Hasina extends warm Pahela Baishakh greetings to all Bengalis

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has extended her greetings to the people and the Bengalis living at home and abroad on Pahela Baishakh – the first day of the Bangla New Year 1421.

She hoped that Monday’s celebrations would signal the beginning of a new journey.

"I hope that Bengalis at home and abroad would begin a new journey by discarding the rubbish of the past," she said.

The Prime Minister also exchanged greetings with central leaders of the ruling Awami League and those of its affiliate bodies, besides ordinary people at her official residence, Ganabhaban, on Monday afternoon.

"I wish that life of all be beautiful and successful," said Hasina, who is also the Awami League chief.

The Prime Minister said the people celebrated Pahela Baishakh with immense enthusiasm and joy.

The nation took to rejoicing with customary fanfare and festivity, casting aside the past year's glooms.
