The victim was identified as Saad Ibne Mamtaz, a student of Bangladesh Agriculture University (BAU).

He was the organising secretary of a hall unit of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), said BAU student affairs counsellor Sultan Uddin Bhuiyan.

Mymensingh’s Kotwali Police Station OC Golam Sarowar said that Saad died around 11am at the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Quoting witnesses, OC Sarowar said that, two groups of the BCL clashed around 11pm on Monday, during which Saad was severely injured.
He was taken to the hospital immediately.
The BCL, however, denied any role in the clash.
“We don’t know who had clashed with whom and Chhatra League has no connection with it. The Chhatra League is not responsible for the death,” said BAU unit BCL president Morsheduzzaman Babu.
He claimed that the victim was not a member of the BCL.
