Ibn Sina denies link to Jamaat

Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals Industry Ltd, a company founded by Islami Bank sponsors, denied having any link with the Jamaat-e-Islami, which opposed Bangladesh’s independence in 1971.

In a media statement issued on Thursday, Ibn Sina said, “This company is not linked directly or indirectly to Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami or any other political party in establishment, management and any other way.”

The statement came amid call by Ganajagaran Mancha for a ban on Ibn Sina alleging that the company had links with the Jamaat.

The platform of youths, which is leading a movement demanding maximum punishment to the 1971 war criminals and ban on Jamaat, has also called for boycott of Ibn Sina.

Medicines manufactured by Ibn Sina were distributed among the participants of the Independence Day event ‘Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla’ (Sonar Bangla in tens of thousands of voices) on Wednesday.

The media, including bdnews24.com, ran reports on the Ibn Sina contribution to the event.

The statement signed by the company’s corporate affairs division Deputy Manager Syeed Aminul Ihsan said Ibn Sina Pharmaceuticals was owned by around d 12,500 shareholders, who were from different caste, creed and opinions.
