BGB man dies in Kashimpur jail

A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) soldier has died at Kashimpur High Security Central Jail in Gazipur.

Mirza Md Habibur Rahman, 62, a deputy assistant director in sector 13, was convicted for joining the 2009 mutiny at the BGB headquarters in Peelkhana.

He had been sentenced to death for his role in the mutiny.

Rahman was admitted to Kashimpur prison hospital after he felt chest pain around 9.45am on Sunday, jailor Jannatul Fardin said.

He was later shifted to Gazipur Sadar Hospital.

Rahman was dead by the time he was brought to the hospital, said the hospital’s emergency unit doctor Rafiqul Islam.
