The Ministry of Public Administration made the shuffle on Monday, just a day after Sheikh Hasina-led 49-member Cabinet took over.

Azad had been appointed as secretary to the Economic Relations Division last year. Before that, he had served as secretary of the Power Division at the outset of the last Awami League government.

Born in Jamalpur on Jan 7, 1957, he is a 1982 Special Batch official. He is to retire on Jan 6, 2016.

Three more secretary-level officials have been transferred by the public administration ministry.

Mohammad Mejbahuddin has been made secretary to the Economic Relations Division. He was secretary to the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division.

Suraiya Begum has been made secretary to the Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Division. She was a member of the Privatisation Commission.

The Ministry of Public Administration in a separate order has made its Officer on Special Duty Secretary Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan member of the Privatization Commission.

Former Secretary of the Bridges Division Bhuiyan, accused of Padma Bridge graft case, was suspended last year but later the suspension order was withdrawn.
