Shailakupa Police Station's OC Anwar Hossain said five policemen were among those injured, hit by stones hurled by blockade campaigners.

Local BNP unit's general secretary Rakibul Hasan Dipu claimed that at least 10 of their activists were injured when police lobbed tear gas canisters and fired shotgun rounds.
Witnesses said that the clash at Shailakupa's Kabirpur area erupted when police stopped a procession of the blockade campaigners.
Opposition activists threw brickbats at the policemen, compelling them to lob tear gas canisters and fire from shot guns to disperse the mob.
OC Hossain said that the blockade campaigners damaged a bank and few shops during the clash.
