Local AL leaders have blamed the Jamaat-e-Islami for the arson at Kachuya Upazila's Shankharikatthi Bazaar.
"The incident followed as the arrest of one Akkas Sheikh, a Jamaat supporter on Dec 12," said local Juba League leader Khan Abdul Quader.
Juba League is the youth affiliate of the ruling party.
Kachuya Police Station's sub-inspector Humayun Kabir said the building was set to fire around 2.30am on Saturday.
Four adjoining shops were burnt down in the blaze.
Two people have been arrested for the arson, Kabir said.
Meanwhile, Jamaat supporters also set fire to houses of local Awami League leader Faruk Sheikh and activist Abdus Sabur on Friday.
