She was accompanied by 19 leaders of the opposition alliance.

Khaleda and her delegation, including representatives from the Jamaat-e-Islami, reached Bangabhaban at around 5:45pm for the meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening.

Her car waited for nearly 25 minutes at the entrance of the Bangabhaban before entering around 6:15pm.

Dhaka police Motijheel division Deputy Commissioner Md Ashrafuzzaman told bdnews24.com that Khaleda had arrived 30 minutes ahead of the schedule.

"That’s why she was waiting," he said.

The Opposition leader's companions were seen entering the Bangabhaban before her.

Khaleda's visit comes amid speculations about the Opposition seeking the President’s intervention to end the political impasse over the polls-time dispensation.

The Opposition and the ruling coalition are yet to reach an agreement on the polls-time government's nature.

On Monday, eight new members were inducted in an 'all-party' cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to supervise the 10th national election.

The BNP-led Opposition is demanding a non-party government oversight in the polls, claiming an election under the Sheikh Hasina-cabinet will not be 'free and fair'.

This is the first time the Opposition Leader is visiting President Hamid since he assumed office on Apr 24 this year.
