All meetings, rallies and processions are prohibited from 9am to 6pm on Monday so that examinations can be peacefully held, said Additional District Magistrate Mohammad Hossain.

Some students took out a procession despite section 144 and tried to block the road in front of the institution but police fired few rounds from their shotguns to disband the protesters, Bogra Assistant Superintendant of Police (media) Gaziul Haque said.

The students damaged three to four vehicles while they were being forced out.

Additional police have been deployed in the area, said Sadar Thana OC Syed Shahid Alam.
Polytechnic students have been agitating for the past couple of days to press for their two-point charter of demands.
The students want the government to increase promotion quota of diploma engineers from 33 to 50 percent and end discrimination in salary structure.
They also want to be called diploma engineers and not ‘supervisors’. The government faced with the protests has decided to define polytechnic graduates as diploma engineers and deputy-assistant engineers when they enter occupation.
