PM's assistance to Rana Plaza victims

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has provided financial assistance to those who suffered mutilation or serious injury in the Rana Plaza building collapse on 24th April last.

She handed over the Family Savings Certificate to 10 injured persons and their family members in her office.

The total amount given out was TK 1.05 crores.

One victim received TK 15 lakh of Family Savings Certificate while remaining nine got TK 10 lakh worth Savings Certificate each.

Besides, the Prime Minister also handed over cheques of financial assistance to 22 Clinincs and Hospitals including Enam Medical College and Hospital, Sima General Hospital, Rezia Clinic and Savar General Hospital where the injured persons had been treated after the tragedy.

She provided cheques of TK 1.02 crores as financial assistance to these clinics and hospitals in recognition to their services after the tragic accident.

TK 18.14 crores have been disbursed so far to 1016 family members of 777 victims.

Meanwhile, more individuals and organizations donated cheques to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund today for assisting the injured persons and families of the Rana Plaza victims.

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and Acting secretary of the Ministry Martuza Ahmed donated a cheque equivalent to one-day salary of the officials and employees of various departments and organizations under the Ministry to the Prime Minister.

Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni also handed over a cheque of the amount of the one-day salary of foreign ministry officials to the Prime Minister.
