The fire started around 4am on Tuesday morning and took eight hours to control, Sadar Upazila officials said.

Seven fire-engines were still to tame the flames.

Feni Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Monsur Uddin said it will take some more time to completely douse the flames inside the mill.

Feni Fire Service Station Master Md Jahangir Alam told bdnews24.com, six persons have sustained injuries due to the fire.

That includes three firemen Mokhlesur Rahman, Abul Kashem and Abdul Mojid.

Mojid has been admitted to Feni Sadar Hospital.

The rescue work is being hampered since two walls of the mill and the roof of its storage have collapsed.

Five fire-fighting units from Feni and two from Noakhali are working to tame the flames.

The fire fighters are using water from three nearby ponds which are almost dry now.

The factory’s deputy manager Shahjahan Siraj said, the fire started due to a friction in a spinning section machine and quickly spread to two other units.

The mill’s General Manager SM Iqbal said assets worth Tk 180 million have been gutted in the fire.
