Large quantity of Malaysian currency was also seized from a bag which arrived on a flight from Singapore, officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, passenger Golam Rabbani, 39, was nabbed from canopy no-1 reception at Saturday midnight, APBN Senior Assistant Police Superintendent Mohammad Alamgir Hossain said.
“He arrived on a Singapore Airlines flight carrying 194 gold-chains weighing 1.4 kilograms, concealed in the sole of his shoes.”
The bag carrying MYR 88,412 (Malaysian Ringgit) came on the same flight, he said. It had the passport of one Mohammad Shahidul Islam, 38, inside it.
Necessary legal action will be taken against Rabbani, Alamgir said.
Investigation was on about the Malaysian currency.
