3 factories closed over cracks
Three factories shut on Monday after a crack appeared in a multi-storey building at Gazipur’s Sadar Upazila

Industrial Police’s Assistant Superintendent of Police Mosharraf Hossain said the hazardous building in Choydana housed Malim (BD) Footwear, Dwip Knitwear and AMS International Ltd.
Workers spotted the crack on the wall at noon, stopped work, evacuated the building immediately and began to protest outside.
A team of Industrial Police went to the site after receiving the news. The authorities of the factories suspended work for the day and the workers returned home.
ASP Hossain said an engineer from BUET will examine the building and a decision to resume or stop work in the building will come only after his assessment.
