Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman has confirmed bdnews24.com about the arrest.

Law enforcers have also held Mohammad Sohel Rana, the owner of the nine-storey building that came crushing down on Wednesday, killing nearly 400 people so far, from Benapole near the Indian border in Jessore.

Aminul Islam, who owns Phantom Apparels and Phantom Tac Limited, New Wave Bottom oener Mahmudur Rahman Tapas, and New Wave Style owner Bazlus Samad Adnan were detained earlier on Saturday.

They are in police custody facing interrogation.

The law keepers and the capital city's development agency RAJUK (Rajdhani Unnayan Katripakkha) had filed two cases with Savar police against the owners over the incident.

Police on Sunday included attempted murder charge in their case to serve a sentence of life imprisonment for the culprits.

The structure was erected over 56 decimals of land. Now only three stories are standing above the ground. The building housed five garment units, a bank branch, and shops of electronics, computers, cosmetics and clothes.

Relentless efforts are on to salvage those still alive inside the rubbles of the building.

The majority of the victims are readymade garment workers, who were allegedly forced into work by the factory owners on the day despite safety alerts sounded by the Industrial Police the previous day.

Executive Engineer of the Savar municipality Md Imtemam Hossain and Assistant Engineer Md Alam Mia are also being quizzed in the case.
