Ministry to monitor treatment

The Directorate General of Health Services has opened a round-the-clock- emergency control room at its Mohakhali headquarter to monitor the medical care of those injured in the collapse of a high-rise in Savar.

According to the Ministry of Health, they had also activated two help-line numbers – 01759114488 and 9855933.

The health minister A F M Ruhal Haque while visiting the victims at the Enam Medical College Hospital at Savar on Wednesday assured that government would ensure proper treatment of all the injured.

In the worst building collapse in Bangladesh, more than 150 bodies have been recovered so far and many more feared trapped inside the rubbles.

More than 800 people were injured in the collapse.

To mourn the death Bangladesh government has declared Thursday as ‘national mourning day’.

The cracks were noticed in the building only on Tuesday.

However, bdnews24.com correspondents in Savar earlier reported that the owner Sohel Rana, local convenor of the ruling Awami League’s youth front Jubo League did not pay heed to the authorities’ request to shut the building that housed four garments factories apart from commercial shops.
