Khaleda Zia due at Savar

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is expected to pay a visit to Savar to oversee the rescue work on Thursday.

“She will go there to visit the site and to extend her sympathy for the victims of the tragedy in the evening,” her Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan said.

Meanwhile, death toll in Wednesday’s tragedy rose to 187 till 2:30pm on Thursday. Over a thousand were injured and as many were missing. Nearly 3,500 workers were employed at the five ready-made garment units located in the building.

A BNP delegation comprising party’s Standing Committee member ASM Hannan Shah, Vice President Sadeque Hossain Khoka and Dhaka district President Abdul Mannan visited the site on Wednesday.

National flag was at half mast since Thursday morning at all its offices including party’s headquarters at Naya Paltan. Party activists were seen wearing black badges.

A special prayer ceremony will be held in evening in Naya Paltan.
