PM condoles Binod Bihari’s death

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday expressed deep shock at the death of veteran revolutionary and social worker Binod Bihari Chowdhury.

In a message of condolence, the Prime Minister said Biplobi Binod Bihari was a symbol of valour and patriotism. He was an inspiration for people to stand against all evils and social injustice, she said.

Hasina recalled his contribution against British colonial rule and toward youth movement led by Mastarda Surya Sen to move people of the subcontinent against subjugation.

The Prime Minister also recalled the role of the life-long warrior in the language movement, war of liberation in 1971 and struggle for democracy, social peace and progress.

The Prime Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.

Earlier on Wednesday night, the famed anti-British movement leader and a close associate of the celebrated revolutionary Surya Sen died at 103.

He died at 9:40pm local time at the Fortis Hospital in Kolkata while undergoing treatment there, his grandson Soumo Shuvro Chowdhury told bdnews24.com by phone.

Binod Bihari is survived by two sons.
