Charges were pressed against five including the Managing Director of the institution.

Akil-uz-Zaman, a resident of the capital Dhaka’s Kalabagan, filed the case at the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrates’ Court.

Metropolitan Magistrate Tanvir Ahmed accepted the complaint and ordered the Officer-in-Charge of Dhanmondi Police Station to investigate.

Those who are accused in the case are – Ibn Sina diagnostic center’s Managing Director, Director of Administration, Ibn sina Trust Secretary, Chief of Accounts and Head of Marketing and Advertising.

Plaintiff Akil-uz-Zaman said he saw Ibn Sina’s advertisement on Diganta TV on Mar 16 which promised that all its tests and treatment cost 25 percent less than others.

He went to the diagnostic centre at house no 48, road 9/A, Dhanmondi two days after he saw the advertisement.

He paid Tk 140 for a haemoglobin blood test. The receipt said that the cost of the test has been reduced to Tk 140 from Tk 186.

The plaintiff asked why he was being charged this much which led to an argument with the officials.

Zaman claimed that a hemoglobin test usually costs Tk 50 in district towns and the pathological centers and hospitals in the capital charge Tk 50 for it.

“The institution has been cheating people by taking twice to thrice the actual amount despite claiming that all its services cost 25% less. I myself am a victim of their fraud”, said the plaintiff.

Akil-uz-Zaman has mentioned four witnesses in the case.
