Vandalism in Faridpur

At least 12 were injured when miscreants set a public bus on fire at Faridpur Sadar on Wednesday night, after BNP announced a daylong nationwide shutdown for Thursday.

Faridpur’s Additional Superintended of Police Bijoy Basak said the bus of Hanif Paribahan was waylaid by felling logs on Dhuldi on Dhaka-Khulna highway.
The miscreants used gunpowder for setting the bus on fire, he said.
Police and fire fighters rushed to the post and took 12 passangers with burn injuries to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Bus driver ‘Shaheen’ said he was driving from Chittagong to Benapole with 40 passangers on board.
He said a group of 10/12 youths sprayed gunpowder over the engine at 8:30am.
As passengers rushed for the exit, some of them sustained burns.
Faridpur Medical College Hospital’s Assistant Registrar Dr Sumon Sen said the condition of the injured were not critical.
