They said the rally, scheduled to begin at 3pm, was part of the ongoing movement demanding death for all convicted war criminals.

Spokesman for the Ganajagaran Mancha, Imran H Sarker on Thursday also urged hoisting the national flag at all educational institutions Saturday.

Sarker urged people from all walks of life to join the Friday’s rally.

Regarding Saturday’s programme, he urged the people to raise the national flag everywhere including all government, non-government and semi-government offices, autonomous and private offices, industrial units, shops, trains, buses, trucks, launches, boats, rickshaws and motorcycles.

He called for protest rallies in front of educational institutions from 11am to 12pm that day.

Protestors came out in full fury in Shahbagh on Feb 5 rejecting the International Crimes Tribunal-2 verdict awarding life imprisonment to Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Abdul Quader Molla.
The spontaneous protest at Shahbagh Intersection drew tens of thousands of protesters shutting off traffic through this thoroughfare. The protest spread to other districts across the country and thousands still continue to hold their vigil at Shahbagh.
The demonstrators said the punishment was ‘lenient’ and are now also calling for a ban on Jamaat.
The Islamist party had issued threat of a ‘civil war’ the day prior to the verdict on Quader Molla.
The ‘Ganajagaran Mancha’ on Wednesday held a rally at Motijheel where no party other than Jamaat-e-Islami usually stages political programmes.
Sarker said the Friday programmes have been called to resist any possible attempt to unleash anarchy activities before and after the Juma prayers using mosques.
The programmes include special prayers for martyred freedom fighters after the prayers, special prayers at all places of worship in the evening, rallies at ‘Ganajagaran Mancha’ replicas at districts and upazilas in the morning.
