His wife Subhra Mukherjee hails from Bhadrabila village in Narail district. Pranab Mukherjee however hails from Birbhum in West Bengal.
The 'Times of India' said the President will take a 40-minute helicopter ride to Bhadrabila during his stay in Dhaka.
Mukherjee will also visit Shilaidaha, Rabindranath Tagore’s country house, during his stay in Dhaka.
The Indian President will arrive at Dhaka on March 3 and return to India on March 5. He will meet President Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, with whom he shares a close personal relationship.
Mukherjee will be honoured by Bangladesh for his supportive role during the 1971 Liberation War, an honour already bestowed on late Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and several other Indian leaders who helped the cause of Bangladesh’s independence.
West Bengal's former chief minister Jyoti Basu, who nearly became India's prime minister in 1997, used to regularly visit his native village whenever he came to Bangladesh.
