The organisers have expressed their hope to turn this event at Mirpur-10 intersection into a grand rally.
The roads adjacent to the intersection have been closed since noon to ensure a hassle free rally. Vehicles from Agargaon, Sony cinema hall, Mirpur-14 and Pallabi areas have been diverted to alternate routes.
The protesters, agitating for the past 20 days at the capital’s Shahbagh, are calling for the arrest of Bangla daily Amar Desh’s Acting Editor Mahmudur Rahman before the Mirpur rally kicks off. They had threatened to announce tougher programmes from Mirpur if he was not arrested by then.
