The speakers started addressing the programme that started with the recitation of national anthem around 3.30pm.

The programme comes a day after the anti-Shahbagh demonstrators launched a country-wide attack on Shaheed Minars and Ganajagaran Manchas, and disrespected the national flag.

Demonstrators at Shahbagh had announced Thursday to end their non-stop sit-in protest. But after Friday’s attack by the ‘Islamists’, they returned to Shahbagh and announced to hold continuous demonstrations there.

People have been converging at Shahbagh intersection to attend the protests.

The mass signature campaign programme is also going on at the ‘Prajanma Chattar’, as thousands expressed their support to the call of the Shahbagh protesters.
