BSF kills 3 along border

Kurigram/Dinajpur, Dec 17 (bdnews24.com) β€” Despite Indian government's pledge to stop killings of Bangladeshis by its Border Security Force (BSF), three people have been killed along Kurigram-Dinajpur border.
BSF personnel killed two Bangladeshi cattle traders along Katla border of Birampur in Dinajpur in the early hours on Saturday, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 40 Battalion acting chief Maj Tarique told bdnews24.com.
"BGB members of Daudpur camp began patrolling the area after hearing gunshots near the pillar No. 190. They became sure early in the morning that Gobindapur BSF camp personnel killed two Bangladeshis," he said.
The deceased were identified as Motiar Rahman, 20, of Daudpur and Taijul Islam, 26, of Rangaon.
Maj Tarique said they sent a letter to the BSF protesting against the killings and asking them to return the bodies.
At Fulbari in Kurigram, another Bangladeshi was killed around 6:30am.
Alamgir Islam, 25, of Krishnananda Bakshi village, was shot near pillar No. 930 along Gorokmandal border.
"He died while his associates were taking him to Fulbari Hospital," Shimulbari BGB camp subedar Nizamuddin told bdnews24.com.
Patrol in the area has been reinforce, he added.
International human rights organisations Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have criticised India about the killings by trigger-happy BSF.
The Bangladesh government formally protested the killings. India said they would provide non-lethal weapons to BSF in order to reduce casualties.
