A bill to raise the Christian Religious Welfare Trust fund to Tk 50 million from Tk 10 million has been passed in parliament.

Dhaka, Mar 13 (bdnews24.com) — A bill to raise the Christian Religious Welfare Trust fund to Tk 50 million from Tk 10 million has been passed in parliament.
The Christian Religious Welfare Trust (Amendment) Bill– 2011, tabled by state minister for religious affairs Shahjahan Miah, was passed in voice vote on Sunday.
The fund has not been raised in 27 years.
The bill explains that funds for Hindu Religious Welfare Trust was raised from Tk 20 million to Tk 160 million and that of the Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust from Tk 10 million to Tk 30 million.
Although administrative steps were taken to raise the Buddhism Religious Welfare Trust fund, the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust fund had not been elevated since 1983.
