Dhaka, May 25, (bdnews24.com)—A child drowned as wind-fed surge submerged the yard of a house at Char Laxmipur village under Bakerganj Upazila of Barisal.
Meanwhile, cyclone Aila ravaged through the villages of Mehediganj Upazila, damaging over 150 houses and injuring at least 10 people.
The Upzila Nirbahi Officer of Bakerganj, Mehedi Masuduzzaman, said, "A child named Rabbi died from falling in the yard while playing as wind-fed surge rose to four-five feet high."
The UNO of Mehedigonj, Md. Nurul Amin, said, "Over 15 houses of Panbaria and Rajapur under Ulania Union Parishad were razed to the ground during the cyclone."
"Of the injured, Momtaj, 70, Halima Begum, 60, and Tanjin, 10, were admitted in the Upzial Health Complex," Amin added.
