Biman abandons aircraft after Dubai accident

Biman has abandoned an Airbus, which ran into an accident at Dubai airport on March 12. A senior Biman engineer told bdnews24.com Monday that two engines were damaged—one completely and the other partially—because of the accident. "We have declared the aircraft abandoned after an initial investigation," the engineer said on condition of anonymity. The plane was damaged to such an extent that it would not be safe for passengers if it goes into operation again, the engineer said. But the insurance company was yet to give any opinion about the ill-fated Airbus.

Dhaka, March 26 (bdnews24.com) -- Biman has abandoned an Airbus, which ran into an accident at Dubai airport on March 12.
In a statement, Biman said all 18 crew of the plane would be able to go back to work.
Civil aviation authorities in Dubai imposed restrictions on the crew after the accident but the bar was lifted after a primary inquiry, the statement said.
On March 12, Biman's BG006 flight ran into an accident during take-off in Dubai. None of Biman's 236 passengers and crew was injured in the accident but the plane suffered damage.
The state-owned airline flies to 22 international and three domestic destinations.
