Bagerhat, Sep 7 (BDNEWS) - One person was chopped to death by his son at Kamargati village under Kachua upazila in Bagerhat, police said Thursday.
Sources said Yusuf Ali Hawlader (50), former member of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) had soured relations with his first wife and sons.
On Wednesday night a quarrel ensued between Yusuf and his son Manirujjaman Hawlader (30) over a television set. At one stage of altercation Manirujjaman started to chop his father with a sharp weapon and left him dead on the spot.
Manirujjaman fled the scene after the incident.
Police arrested Momena Begum (45), first wife of the deceased, in this connection.
Police recovered the body Thursday and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Abu Zafar, the elder brother of the deceased, filed a murder case against three persons with Kachua thana.
