Dhaka, Mar 30 (BDNEWS)- A housewife and her daughter were given life term for murdering a maid-servant at the Concord Tower of the capital.
Mahmuda Chowdhury alias Roksana Chowdhury and her daughter Sharmin Chowdhury who were convicted by the additional sessions judge of Dhaka Md Nazrul Islam were absconding. Before going into hiding, the convicts took bail from the court.
The case history in brief is that Roksana ran a brothel during her stay at the Concord Tower in 1995. She used to beat her maid-servant for not helping her in this act. She and her son beat the maid- servant to death and threw the body down through the window of the fifth floor on May 5, 1995.
To divert the case, they fabricated a story saying that the maid Monowara died while she tried to flee after stealing in the house.
Assistant commissioner of police Akhtaruzzaman recovered the body and filed the case.
