Dhaka, Dec 9 (BDNEWS) – Family members of late Siraj Shikder, a freedom-fighter and founder of Purba Bangla Sarbahara Party, Friday protested the attempt to malign the legendary leader comparing him with the fundamentalist militants and demanded trial of his killing.
At a press conference at the Jatitya Press Club, Shikha Shikder and Shuvra Shikder, daughter and son of late Siraj Shikder, in a written statement said: Siraj was not killed by any individual person. He was killed by the exploiting-looters and their accomplices."
They said no government did anything for the trial of his killing and it's not possible for the existing administration to arrange trail of Siraj Shikder killing.
They said a section of the then government had killed Siraj Sikder while another part tried to realise their political interest.
"It was Siraj Shikder who had first hoisted the national flag of independent Bangladesh. The contribution of freedom-fighter Siraj Shikder has been recorded in the history of the liberation war published by the government," they said.
They said there is no similarity between the current militancy and the ideology of Siraj Shikder.
