DU female student commits suicide

Dhaka, Oct 20 (BDNEWS) – A female student of Rokeya Hall in Dhaka University committed suicide Thursday evening at her room.

Identified as Shilpi Rani Sarkar, 24. She was a fourth year student of Botani department. Shilpi was a daughter of Juran Chandra Sarkar who is a resident of Patihar village under Agoilejhara thana in Barisal district.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) sources said she committed suicide taking insecticides.

Her friends said she was found in dying condition in her room no 10. They rushed her to DMCH where doctors washed her stomach but she died at 7.45 pm.

Friends of the deceased said they did not know the cause behind the suicide. Some of them, however, suspect that she might have committed suicide over marital affairs.
