Pabna extremist leader killed in RAB crossfire in Rajshahi

A regional commander of outlawed Nakshal party Babul Karim Chandu (40) of Pabna was killed in crossfire during a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Bagmara in Rajshahi early Monday.

Pabna, June 20 (BDNEWS) – A regional commander of outlawed Nakshal party Babul Karim Chandu (40) of Pabna was killed in crossfire during a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Bagmara in Rajshahi early Monday.
RAB sources said they picked Chandu, an accused in 35 cases including 13 for murder, from Badal village at Hadal union of Faridpur upazila of Pabna at 12pm Saturday and took him to Rajshahi police headquarters.
Admitting his connection with 13 murders, he said that his accomplices were hiding at Bagmara of Rajshahi.
When the RAB members along with Chandu reached Ramrama of Rajshahi at 12:45am, the waylaying miscreants opened fire on their vehicle assuming a civil one triggering a gunfight.
In a bid to escape, Chandu fell in the line of fire and died on the spot receiving multiple bullet wounds.
He was rushed to Bagmara Upazila Health Complex and on duty doctor there declared him dead.
RAB members recovered a shorter gun from the spot.
