Accused in six-case killed in 'crossfire' in Narail

An alleged criminal was killed in crossfire with police at Basupatti Khamarbari area of Lohagara upazila in Narail district early Thursday.

Jessore, May 5 (BDNEWS) – An alleged criminal was killed in crossfire with police at Basupatti Khamarbari area of Lohagara upazila in Narail district early Thursday.
Police said Azmal Kazi, son of Latif Kazi, was arrested from Pirojpur on Tuesday.
Following his confessional statements he was taken to Khamarbari area to recover illegal weapons late Wednesday night.
But his accomplices opened fire on police prompting the law enforcers retaliate. At one stage of the gunfight, police said, Azmal fell into line of the crossfire, received multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.
Acting Superintendent of Police of Narail, Jamshed Ali said a sub inspector and a constable were also injured in the incident.
Police recovered two pipeguns, two live bullets and four cartridges from the spot.
