Listed criminal killed in 'crossfire' with RAB in Jessore

Jessore, April 28 (BDNEWS) – A listed criminal -Royal (25)- was killed early hours Thursday in 'crossfire' with RAB near Subarnakhali-Narayanpur bridge under Sharsha upazila of the district.
Sources said a team of RAB on a tip off led by Maj. Sakhawat raided the residence of Royal at about 2:00 am Thursday and arrested him along with 210 bottles of phensidyl.
On his confessional statement, members of the elite anti-crime force, later, along with him started for Navaron area to recover arms and narcotics. As they reached near the Subarnakhali-Narayanpur bridge, 10 to 12 ambushed associates of Royal opened fire on them. The law enforcers also retaliated with counter fire and Royal died in crossfire.
Four RAB personnel also received injuries during the gun battle. They were admitted into Navaron Burujbagan Health Centre.
RAB recovered a Germany-made pistol, a rifle and eight rounds of bullet from the spot.
A case has been filed with Sharsha police station in this connection.
